5.6.72. No. 1 (The Monastery).
GV II
House, workshop and store. Early C18. Red brick; pantiled roof; central
brick ridge chimneys. On sloping site; 3 storeys and basement. 3 window
range. Central C18 door with 2 large, raised and fielded panels, set in a
wider blocked opening with cambered brick arch. Small C20 cellar door to
right below two C18 sashes with thick glazing bars. Another blocked door
(originally a window?) to left double loading doors. Wooden casements
(some with iron frames) on upper floors. One single-light casement on
second floor has leaded lights on pale green glass. Left gable rebuilt.
Rear elevation has sashes in flush fronted wooden frames; 3 , 5 and 6
light wooden mullioned casements.
