Nos 2 and 3 The
Cottages

II

Former dwellings, now storage. C19. Squared rubble, stone slate roof. Single block
with central gable and flanking Cotswold gables. Three storeys, five windowed;
three-light casements top floor, three light casement plus transom, first and ground
floors; good six-panel wide door to No. 3. Much depreciated within. Roof structure
raised on posts, above tie beams, with corbel block (as in Under the Hill House) and
feet of principal rafters slightly curved towards vertical; main top floor beams/ties
brought through to outer wall face.
This group is a rare survival in an area much cleared and altered in the C20.
