Circa 1834-35. The first warehouse to be built at Wappenshall Junction facing the
new basins at the end of the Newport branch of the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction.
Built by the Sutherland Estate as part of their development of the basin. The 2-storey
warehouse is built of red brick with a low pitch slate roof with overhanging eaves.
The bay identical elevations to south-west and north-east, the centre bay in each
case being deeply recessed between the narrow flanking bays allowing for a shallow
wharf on the canal side of storey hatches to centre. Segmental arched windows to
flanking bays with painted brick cills. The south-east recess retains its cast-iron
jib joist.
