Four statues supporting lamps. 1903. By Alfred Drury. Polished
granite plinths, bronze life-size statues on square bases with
lettering: 'MORN/ THE GIFT OF T. WALTER HARDING 1903'; 'ALF.
DRURY ARA Sc' and 'J.W.SINGER & SONS FOUNDERS'. Nude female
figures holding flowers and drapery, the right arm raised and
holding a torch (not original).
Part of the lighting scheme for the City Square designed by
William Bakewell for T Walter Harding, 1903. The figures,
representing 'Morn', originally stood on the balustrade and
flanked the entrances to the square, holding tall lamps with
glass ball shades. Matches the group, 'Even' (qv).
