Wall to East of Former Abbey Vineyard

A Grade I Listed Building in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Medieval Vinefield wall which surrounded the Abbey Vinefields

Uploader's Comments

Only original medieval section that exists of the Abbey Vinefield Wall, the rest of this wall has been rebuild over the centuries. This part of the wall backs on to social housing gardens. Most of the wall is badly neglected, grown over with ivy and trees etc, very poorly cared for. The land within this wall (the original Abbey Vine fields for the monks) was dedicated a conservation area until 2012 when the council removed this status, making it vulnerable to development.
