Tomb of Henry Joynes (d.1754). Portland stone. 2-stage pedestal formerly with an urn or similar finial. The inscription on the south side describes Joynes as "Comptroller and Conductor of the Building of Blenheim House in Oxfordshire from 1706 to 1715. He was many years Surveyor of the Sewers of Westminster".
HISTORY: Joynes, sometime assistant to Nicholas Hawksmoor, was an architect in his own right and responsible for the design of this monument.
