Coal and wine tax post. Circa 1861, made by Henry Grissell. Metal, circa 4
feet high. Four legged plinth with chamfered pier above. Moulded capital band
and pyramidal top. City of London shield on front. Lettering on pier reads
'25 & 25 VICT/CAP 42', makers name on rear. Coal and wine tax post indicating
the boundary at which duty was payable, that on coal dating back to the 1660s.
