Farmhouse, now 2 cottages. C17, enlarged and altered. Handmade brick cladding
a timber frame, now covered with white-painted render except the parapet; red
tile roof. Formerly a single-depth 2-unit lobby-entry plan, but with early
addition at right-hand end, full-height rear outshut, and altered entries. Two
storeys and 3 bays; saw-tooth band over 1st floor and parapet with flat coping;
there is a blocked former doorway at the junction of the 1st and 2nd bays, and
an inserted doorway to the right of the 2nd bay, under a small wooden porch;
and three 3-light casements on each floor, the 2nd and 3rd at ground floor
segmental-headed, and all with altered glazing. Half-hipped roof with a ridge
chimney at the junction of the 1st and 2nd bays, an end-wall chimney to the
left, another chimney on the rear slope near the right-hand end. The right-hand
end wall has a 24-pane horizontal sliding sash window to the outshut; the rear
has a catslide roof, slightly raised at the west end. (Modern single-storey
addition at the left end is not of special interest.) Interior: timber-framed rear
wall and partition wall between the 2nd and 3rd bays, spine beam with tongue-
stopped chamfer and joists with similar decoration; some tension braces visible at
1st floor; inglenook fireplace with chamfered brick jambs, chamfered bressummer,
and salt recess.
