height then timber framing. Tiled gableted roof with
decorative finials, overhanging bracketed eaves and gabled

projecting gabled roof. Rectangular plan.
Single storey, symmetrical design. Central canted bay window,
with glazing bars and small panes to top horizontal lights,
under large projecting gable. Flanking bays with similarly
glazed 2-light windows. Entrances set in angles of projecting
returns. Returns and rear facade with high placed windows
having glazing bars.
INTERIORS: both sides similar having attendants' rooms
situated in the canted bay with half-glazed panelled stable

moulded brown ceramic dado rail. Cubicles have outward opening
plank doors with gaps at top and bottom. Matchboard ceilings
lit by the gabled dormers. Working gas lights around the walls

HISTORICAL NOTE: this building was probably erected as part of
the LCC municipal improvement campaign for Hampstead Heath
which led to fears for the loss of the Heath's wilder charms.
