GV II

Temple mausoleum. c1891. Portland stone. Rectangular plan.
Recessed entrance with flanking Ionic half columns;
architraved doorway with dentil pediment containing coat of
arms and enriched cast-iron double doors with grilled
openings, approached by steps. Columns support entablature
with projecting cornice and blocking course; frieze inscribed
"Cheylesmore" flanked by carved roundels.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Lord Cheylesmore was a silk merchant, owner
of White's Club and MP for Coventry for 21 years.
