Public house. c1849. Grey brick. Hipped slated roof with
projecting eaves. 3 storeys and cellars. 4 windows and
3-window return to Christchurch Hill. Rectangular plan on a
corner site. Well Walk facade with asymmetrically placed
architraved doorway having blocked fanlight. Architraved
sashes; the 1st floor round-arched. Christchurch Hill facade
with central round-arched architraved doorway with radial
fanlight approached by steps to a raised area with cast-iron
balustrade. Entrance flanked by Venetian windows. Architraved
sashes; the 1st floor round-arched. INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: this pub replaced the Green Man in c1849,
which itself replaced The Whitestone.
