Gatehouse. c1517-18 and late C17, rebuilt c1956 and 1967 in
similar Tudor style. Brown brick with diaper work to west
front. Lead roof. 4 storeys single window to either side of
archway with moulded stone surround, above which single
tripartite sash. Foot passage to left. To right 5 storey tower
with single segmental-arched sashes to ground and 4th floor;
1st, 2nd and 3rd floor with gauged brick flat arches to
slightly recessed single sashes and small, horizontally hung
4-pane windows to the left. Above archway on east front to
Chancery Lane, 3 stone panels with coats-of-arms and date
"1518" with small stone panel beneath "1693".
