House. c1870 for the Grant-Thorold Estate, with late C20
alterations and additions. Red brick, rendered and whitewashed
(apart from gable coping and stacks); pantile roof. C17 Dutch
style. 2-room, central entrance-hall plan, with later
extensions to each side and rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 2 windows; wings single-storey with
single windows. Plinth. Central open porch has a 4-centred
arch beneath a pointed-arch gable with moulded brick cornice
and coping. C20 imitation 6/6 sashes in original openings with
sills. Shaped gables have rendered kneelers, moulded brick
cornices and coping. Corniced end stacks with twin octagonal
shafts. Wings have pairs of similar windows, the left wing
with a diamond-shafted stack.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
One of a series of houses in Old Clee built for Alexander
Grant-Thorold of Weelsby Old Hall in a style matching that of
nearby Clee Hall Farmhouse, Clee Road (qv).
