Pair of shops, now integrated, with cafe over; plus attached
verandah. Probably c1890-1900; altered. White painted render
and applied half-timbering, red tiled roof. Neo-Tudor style.
Rectangular plan at right-angles to street.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2 gabled bays. C20 shops at ground floor;
large shallow oriels at first floor, both with wooden mullions
and transoms (3 lights to left, 5 lights to right) under red
tiled pentice roofs. Gables with ornamental half-timbering,
painted bargeboards and small finials.
Attached verandah of 3 wide bays with cast-iron columns which
have Ionic capitals and shallow brackets with roses in the
spandrels, panelled iron frieze and curved glazed roof.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms group with Nos 273-277 & 281 to left (qv) and Nos
293-307 adjoining to right (qv); and the verandah is part of
the series which characterizes this street.
