Statue of George IV. 1828. By Sir Francis Chantrey. Nine-foot
bronze standing, robed figure on a corniced granite pedestal.
Erected by public subscription. The statue is a replica of
that which stands at the head of the grand staircase in
Windsor Castle. It originally stood in the Steine, and was
moved to its present position in 1922.
