Includes: Nos.2-5 KING'S ROAD.
Terraced houses. Early C19. Stucco and mansard roof of slate.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys over basement and dormers. Since the
entire block has been taken over by the Queen's Hotel, the
addresses are falling out of use. For the sake of clarity,
therefore, the following description will not use addresses
but measure the ranges from the corner. The group is located
on the south corner of East Street and King's Road. East
Street elevation: 6-window range, as measured from the corner,
including 3 bays rising from first to third floors; the bay
near the corner is canted, the others on this elevation are
segmental. All windows are flat arched, and all bay windows
are triple with sashes of original design: 4 x 4 to first and
second floors and 2 x 4 to third floors. Storey bands and
cornice. The ground floors of all units have been much altered
except for that unit on the corner which has a late C19 or
early C20 shopfront. Return along King's Road has a 4-window
range which includes 2 segmental bays rising from first to
third floors; all windows flat arched and triple bay windows.
There is a continuous storey band between the first and second
floors of the range; entablature with projecting corner to
units near the corner; once continued across the whole group,
but now removed. The attic has a plain band below the parapet.
Sashes of original design, 4 x 4, to all bay windows except
those in the left-hand attic window.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
