871/9/10157 TOPSHAM
23-JUN-00 (South side)
24-28

II

Terrace of 5 houses. 1840s. Mass wall construction, some roughcast, some stuccoed and blocked out, which was probably the original type of finish; slate roofs; stacks with brick shafts.
Plan: Doorways to one side, houses not identical in size.
Exterior: 2 storeys and attics. Asymmetrical but irregular 3:2:1:2:2-window front with original detail very intact. Deep eaves with a boxed eaves cornice. Doors are 6-panel with recessed panels and deep, plain overlights. Windows are double hung sashes with margin panes, larger on the ground floor. No 24, to the left, has an extra, narrow bay with an extra door at the left end and the front door just left of centre. Nos 25 & 28 have front doors to the right, Nos 26 & 27 to the left. No 27 has only one first floor window.
INTERIORS: Not inspected but may be of interest.
Complete example of its type, the margin-pane sashes being characteristic of this date.
