Terrace row of 3 town houses, now shops and solicitors' office at ground floor level with accommodation above at Nos: 5 and 7. c.1840s. Mass wall construction, painted stucco, blocked out at Nos: 5 and 7. Red brick chimney shafts with bands. Tapering round terracotta pots at No. 7. Round cream ceramic pots at No. 9. Slate roofs; cast iron rainwater goods.
Plan: Each house has a deep plan with entrances to right with axial stacks to left. Ground floors of Nos: 5 and 7 have been knocked through for shop use.
Exterior: 3 storeys. Eavesband. Each building has a regular 2-bay front. Nos: 5 and 7 have C20 front doors and C20 shop windows. Boot scraper to left of door at No.7. No. 5 has 8 over 12 small-pane hornless sash windows to first and second floor; No. 7 has 12-pane hornless sash windows. No.9 has a doorway with a pediment on consoles; doorcase with panelled reveals; rectangular overlight with 3 vertical glazing bars; 4-panel front door; eared architraves to windows. Boot scraper to left of door. To left is 12-pane hornless sash window with horizontal sliding louvred shutters. 12-pane hornless sash windows at first floor and second floor levels. Eared architraves to first floor windows. Wide architraves to second floor windows.
INTERIOR: Only No.9 partially inspected. Internal porch with half glazed door with margin panes and stained glass. Dogleg stair with stick balusters.
A terrace that preserves much of its original exterior, part of a group with Nos: 11 and 13 (q.v.).
