Terraced houses, now flats; ground floors converted into
shops. Early C19. Nos 95-96 of painted brick in Flemish bond,
Nos 97-99, stucco; mathematical tiles to bays of Nos 95-96,
and 99. Roofs obscured by parapet.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys. One window each, except for No.96 which
has a 2-window range. Entrances to flats in Nos 95-98 in
returns of through passages at party walls. Late C19 and C20
shop fronts to ground floor. Segmental bays to first and
second floor of all except for No.99 which has a nearly
full-height bay. All windows flat arched. Bays to Nos 95-96,
and 99 finish with simple cornices. To left of bay on No.96,
on each floor, is a flat-arched window. Sashes of original
design to tripartite bay windows of Nos 95-96, 4 x 4 to the
sidelights, and 6 x 6 to the centrelights; flat-arched windows
to first-window range of No.96, which is unoccupied, has
sashes of 3 x 6, 6 x 6, and 4 x 8. Nos 97 and 98 are the most
elaborate: triple windows to the bays, those on the first
floor are round arched, with 4 x 6 sashes of original design,
heads of top sashes have decorative glazing bars; flat-arched
windows to second floor have 4 x 4 sashes of original design;
between each first-floor bay window and at the join of the bay
with the front wall is an attached, fluted Ionic column with
ornamental necking, and impost block with floral ornament; the
arches, which spring from these blocks, have architraves;
entablature to first-floor of bay only, the cornice of this
forming a continuous sill to the second-floor bay windows;
between each second-floor bay window and at join of the bay
with the front wall is a fluted, attached column without a
capital. Entablature with projecting cornice and blocking
course to top of the bays of Nos 97 and 98; above are 2
flat-arched windows, each with architrave and 3 x 6 sashes of
original design; third-floor right window of No.97 is blocked.
Over Nos 97 and 98 there is a continuous cornice and parapet.
Stacks to party walls.
