House, now offices. Early C19. Stucco to ground floor; brick
(or possibly mathematical tile) in Flemish bond; lintels of
gauged brick. Hipped roof of slate.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement. 3-window range with narrow
set back of one-window range to the left. Round-arched
entrance with plain fanlight in centre of elevation; double
doors of 3 panels each. The entrance is set in an aedicule
consisting of a pair of pilasters with block capitals
supporting a keyed round arch with architrave; cornice above.
The ground floor is rendered in stucco to resemble rustication
and is topped by a storey band. There is a second round-arched
entrance with keyed architrave in the set-back range to the
left; this entire range is faced with stucco scored to
resemble ashlaring. A window to either side of the entrance.
All windows are set in deep reveals and have projecting sills,
and all, except for those to the basement, are flat arched.
The first- and second-floor windows have gauged brick lintels.
The first- and third window ranges of the second floor have
8/8 sashes of an early C19. The first-floor window in the
set-back range has 6/6 sashes of an early C19 design.
Left-hand basement window is segmental arched with 8/8 sashes
of an early C19 design. Cast-iron railings to area and to left
of entrance. Stacks to end wall.
INTERIOR: from the entrance one can make out an original stair
as well as several round-arched doorcases connecting the stair
hall to rear rooms. These features appear to date to the C19.
