(Formerly Listed as:
SILLWOOD PLACE
Nos.1-11 (Consecutive))

GV II

Terraced house. 1827-29. By Amon Henry Wilds. Stucco, roof
obscured by parapet.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys over basement, 4-window range. The ground
floor has an entrance to the right and 3 windows, each under a
pointed arch set back under a similar arch, both of heightened
ogee profile and decorated with cusping in imitation of the
Royal Pavilion; the fanlight and glazing bars, apparently of
original design, echo the pointed arches; individual cast-iron
balconies to each window. The whole elevation is flanked by a
pair of octagonal pilasters with roll-moulded capitals at
attic cornice level; and there is an inner pair of octagonal
pilasters flanking the 2 inner windows and ending above the
third floor sill band in capitals of Oriental design. All
upper windows flat-arched and surrounded by a simple square
architrave, those to the inner bays set back twice within the
architrave; the elevation is crossed by moulded strings acting
as a storey band between ground and first floors; as sill
bands below outer second-floor windows; as a cornice over
inner second-floor windows; as a sill band to third-floor
windows and simply as a vertical band either side of the inner
windows on the first and second floors; the final moulded
string is the cornice; blocking course.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Cast-iron railings to steps with ornate balusters.
