Former cottages under esplanade. Architect H E Kendall junior.
Cement fronted. Classical style.
2 storeys; 4 windows Cornice with modillions and parapet
supported on 6 Tuscan pilasters. Four shallow window openings
to upper storey, boarded over at time of survey. Ground floor
has large round-arched opening in centre flanked by smaller
doorways and two round-headed arches, blocked at time of
survey. Plinth. Projecting full-height end chimneys which are
rusticated with panelled caps.
Forms part of a group with the former old Reading Room, the
Tunnel entrance and The Temple (qv).
