Terrace of 6 dwellings, now shops with flats over, with
attached railings to No.1 Regent Place. c1818-1834 with later
additions and alterations including late C19 shop front to Nos
31 & 33, otherwise mid-C20 ground-floor shop fronts.
Reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond with painted stucco
facades, scored in imitation of ashlar, stone copings, Welsh
slate roof to Regent Place, otherwise concealed roofs, with
cast-iron railings and balconies.
PLAN: L-shaped range with angle curved on section.
Double-depth plans with side entrances.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, 10 first-floor windows, with basement to
ninth and tenth window-range (No.1 Regent Place), and further
range of 3 storeys, 3 first-floor windows (Nos 3 & 5A Regent
Place).
Stucco detailing includes pilaster strips with recessed panels
through first and second floors to ends of main range, to
either side of angle and between fourth and fifth windows,
also to ends of rear range.
Main range, first floor: mainly 10-pane French windows with
divided overlights in plain reveals and tooled architraves;
except those to third and fourth windows are 6-pane French
windows with divided overlights in plain reveals.
Range to rear, first floor has outer 6/6 sashes with blind
windows between, all with sills and in plain reveals. Second
floor, main range: 6/6 sashes in plain reveals and with tooled
architraves and sills; rear range: outer 3/9 sashes with blind
opening between, all in plain reveals and with sills. Main
range has frieze and cornice interrupted above third and
fourth windows; rear range has architrave, frieze, cornice and
blocking course. Main range, third floor: mainly 3/6 sashes
except those to third and fourth windows are 6/6 sashes, all
in plain reveals and with tooled architraves. All windows to
angle are curved on plan. Cornice and low parapet, missing
above third and fourth windows, with acroteria above

pilasters, except to left end.
(Ground floor: No.29 has plate-glass shop front and glazed
entrance.) No.29 has 3 round-edged steps
No.29A: ground floor has plate glass shop front. 3 round-edged
steps to panelled door with narrow overlight and further
blocked overlight with margin-glazing-bars, in panelled
reveals within doorcase with fielded pilaster strips and
frieze.
No.31 has 3 steps to 6-panel door with overlight with
decorative glazing-bars in plain reveals, within channelled
surrounds.
No.31A has glazed shop front with pilaster strips and basket
arches, canted towards central entrance a part-glazed door.
No.33 has shop front with Tuscan pilasters to either side of
entrance, a part-glazed door with 2 overlights in glazed
recess.
No.1 Regent Place has 3 steps to side entrance a 3-panel door
with side-lights and fluted pilaster strips between, blocked
elliptical overlight, surround has horizontal rustication, C20
bay window, basement has side entrance a part-glazed door and
casement windows.
Nos 3 & 5A have glazed central and side entrances in
plate-glass shop-fronts. Tall roof and side stacks. Continuous
balconies to first floor of main range, except third and
fourth windows (No.31) have individual balconies: No.29 has
Carron Company double-heart-and-anthemion motif, otherwise
circle-and-anthemion motif.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings and gate and to
sides of steps to No.1 Regent Place.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Bath Street was a main street of the C18
village of Leamington.
