Terrace of 3 houses, now flats and attached railings. c1831
with later additions and alterations. Probably by William
Thomas. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco front and side
facades, Welsh slate roof and cast-iron balconies and
railings.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basements and attics to gables, 7
first-floor windows, arranged 2:3:2, the centre 3 project and
are taller, and with recessed, single-storey entrance bays to
sides. Continuous first-floor band. Tall 1/1 sashes
throughout.
Second floor: 1/1 sashes to projection, otherwise 6/6 sashes.
All windows in plain reveals and with tooled architraves,
eared to projection. Cornice with modillions to projection.
Ground floor: central and side entrances. 4 steps to central
entrance a plank door with side-lights and divided cambered
overlight within distyle Roman Doric porch with frieze and
cornice. Side entrances behind Roman Doric screen which abuts
Nos 27 (qv) to left and 35 (qv) to right, a part-glazed,
panelled door and 4-panel door. Breakforward has 1/1 sash and
tripartite window with 1/1 sashes, both with tooled, eared
architraves, otherwise 6/6 sashes. Basement has 4-panel and
part-glazed doors, 3/6 sashes and casement window. Copings.
Roof stacks.
First floor: individual balconies to projection with
heart-and-anthemion motif; to right a continuous balcony with
similar balustrade.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: decorative lancet railings to steps and
areas have anthemions to standards.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Beauchamp Avenue was laid out as Beauchamp
Terrace c1828-31, most of the north side built by 1838.
Forms a group with No.27 and Nos 35-41 (odd) Beauchamp Avenue
(qqv).
