Villa, now club. c1838 with later additions and alterations.
By William Thomas, of Leamington and Canada. Pinkish-brown
brick with painted stucco front facade and Welsh slate roof.
STYLE: Neo-Tudor.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 3 first-floor windows with single-storey,
single bay to left and 2-storey, single bay to right.
Main range has pilaster buttresses to angles with Gothic
decoration and pyramidal caps.
Central entrance in projecting porch: double part-glazed doors
with 4-centred overlight in hollow-moulded surround with 1
order of columns; hoodmould with face-stops; quatrefoil
decoration to spandrels, segmental pedimented upshot and
octagonal buttresses with onion caps to angles.
Ground floor has outer bays with pointed 'lancet' windows, 3
to centres and 2 to sides, surmounted by Gothic balustrade.
First floor: outer bays have pair of 3-light windows with
Gothic heads and margin-lights, divided overlights with
remains of quatrefoil glazing; hollow-moulded hoodmould. To
centre a 4-pane lancet with margin-lights.
Second floor: similar 4- and 2-pane lancets with
margin-lights, all in chamfered surrounds with sills and
hollow-moulded hoods. Shaped gables with pointed finials,
smaller pointed gable to centre, all with hollow-chamfered
surrounds. Tall end stacks with cornices.
Left range: lancet window in chamfered surround with
hoodmould; battlements.
Right range: 3-light lancet window with hoodmould. To rear:
ground floor Gothic bay window; 6-pane French windows.
INTERIOR: ground floor, right drawing room has upper part of
triple ogee-arched arcade with fleurons and pinnacles with
finials. Windows have moulded architraves. To hall are 2
Gothic pilasters. Ogeed arch with fleurons leads to French
windows. First floor has pair of 6-pane Gothic doors.
Forms an architectural group with Nos 79 and 81, 83, and 85
Holly Walk (Upper) (qqv).
