Houses, now shops and flats. Late C18 or early C19. Stucco
scored to imitate ashlaring. Roof of No.9 cannot be seen due
to narrowness of twitten at this point; the rest of slate, to
No.12 hipped.
Each has 3 storeys; No.12 is higher than the rest. one window
each. C20 shop fronts. All windows flat arched. Sashes of an
early C19 design, 6 x 6, to the first-floor windows of Nos 10
and 11. No.12 has a corner entrance and to the left a
full-height bay which is segmental on the ground floor and
dates to the late C20; above the bay is canted and has
tripartite windows. Guttered eaves to all. Metal sign brackets
to first floor of No.9 and of No.11. Stacks to party walls
between Nos 9 and 10, and 11 and 12.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
These buildings form a most important group with Nos 1-8,
22-32, 36-41, and 43-53 Meeting House Lane (qv), which is the
centre of the section of the Old Town known as The Lanes.
