Also Known As: Cool Oak Bridge, COOL OAK LANE
Road over river bridge. circa 1835. Brown brick laid in English bond, with engineering bricks as coping, and stone pilaster caps.
EXTERIOR: north and south sides are identical, each of nine bays defined by pilaster strips. Platband at deck level. Three central semicircular brick arches conduct the Brent Reservoir. Pilasters end in pyramid caps of millstone grit at parapet level. Coping in form of bricks laid on edge. Parapet splays at cast and west ends.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the river Brent was dammed in 1835 to create a reservoir of feeder water for the Grand Union canal, and the older bridge on this site rebuilt.
