GV II

Farmhouse. Mid C18 with mid C19 and C20 alterations and
additions. Built as an estate farm for the Lucy family of
Charlecote Park. Brick, south elevation in rat-trap bond with
buff headers; tile roofs with brick end stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; symmetrical 3-window range.
Brick plinth, 2 plat bands and top modillioned brick cornice
with central pediment. Segmental-headed entrance has C20
doorcase with pairs of Doric columns and hood. Windows have
3-light transomed casements, but central first-floor window
has cross-casement; attic has Diocletian window to pediment
and flanking gabled dormers with 2-light casements.
Rear has large 2-storey wing, to right of 2 shorter lower
wings, with single-storey wing to end and catslide outshut to
inner return, which has return C20 canted bay and returns as
porch with round arch and C20 inner entrance; to left return
of wing to left a 2-storey canted bay with small-paned gables
to windows.
INTERIOR: upper flights of C18 stick-baluster staircase; some
panelling in upper rooms; original roof structure.
