House and attached cottage and outbuilding. Late C17 or C18
with C19 additions to rear and extensive late C20
restorations. Brick laid to Flemish stretcher bond; hipped and
gabled old tile roof with brick cross-axial stack with fillets
and cap; large external lateral stack to left return and
similar end stack to rear. L-plan.
EXTERIOR: house: 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range plus
2-window cross-wing to left. Entrance has 4-panel door in
moulded frame with consoled gabled hood. Entrance is flanked
by windows with brick flat arches over C20 small-paned
cross-casements; 3 windows to each floor, and small 2-light
small-paned casement to gable; one window to each floor of
inner return.
Left return has large lateral stack and similar windows; right
to cross-wing and entrance up steps top left with original
2-panel door in heavy frame and 2-lights above. C19
outbuilding now cottage attached to wing, with L-plan
outbuilding attached to end.
Cottage: single-storey; with attic attached to rear end of
cross wing has modillioned brick cornice. Left end canted
back. Renewed tile roof with end stack and cross-axial stack.
Wide segmental-headed entrance to left of centre has C20
small-paned glazed door and glazing to side, with
segmental-headed entrance to left and segmental-headed window
to left end; right end has segmental-headed window and
entrance with side light; 2 gabled half-dormers to left with
C20 casements.
Outbuilding: single-storey; attached to end has modillioned
brick cornice and 2 wide openings; rear has blocked
round-headed opening to left of 2 wide entrances flanking
brick pier with rounded angles; small return to right end.
INTERIOR: house: some chamfered spine beams; hall has large
fireplace with bressumer; stair to attic retains some C18
turned balusters; exposed purlins. Wing has stair between
walls; kitchen to rear has large fireplace with chamfered
bressumer; brick corbelling to upper fireplace; rear door has
strap hinges with fleur-de-lys ends. First floor has 2
bolection-moulded fireplaces, and cupboard with H-hinges.
Cottage: has some exposed beams and large recess possibly for
fireplace.
Outbuilding: has 3 king post trusses with cambered tie beams
and halved and crossed principals, probably re-used; end space
has bread oven and copper with lid.
