The Latch

House, converted into 2 houses early C19 and now a single
dwelling. C18 with early C19 extensions and alterations. Built
of cob, with brick extensions early C19; gabled thatch roof
with plain-tile roof to extensions. Single-unit plan, extended
to 2-unit plan early C19.
EXTERIOR: single storey and attic; 4-window range. Entrance:
C20 door with timber lintel to left of blocked doorway now
fitted with early C20 iron casement. Timber lintels over
2-light casements with glazing bars. Gabled C19 one-bay
extension to rear left and C20 flat-roofed extensions to left.
INTERIOR: plank doors with strap hinges to 2 winder
staircases; side-purlin roof with C20 alterations.
A rare example of a cob and thatch cottage for this area.
