GV II

Farmhouse. Mid C18 with early C19 rear range. Red brick laid
to Flemish bond, dressed stone and ashlar; steeply pitched
renewed tile double-pitch roof with brick end stacks and coped
brick and stone gables. Double-depth, central staircase, plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range. North,
entrance, front has dressed stone plinth and basement entrance
with timber lintel down steps; ashlar cornice; quoins to right
end. Entrance to left of centre has door in architrave; ashlar
engaged columns to altered early C20 porch. Ground floor has
segmental-headed window to left end with 4-light leaded
casement, altered window to right of entrance has C20 3-light
casement; bow window to right end has ashlar base and cornice
over paired 16-pane sashes; small inserted window to right of
centre. First floor has 3 segmental-headed windows with
3-light and two 4-light leaded casements with iron opening
casements. Attic has small windows, one with 3-light leaded
casement and 2 blind; some crown glass and wrought-iron
casement fasteners.
Right return has gable projecting to left with
segmental-headed attic window with leaded casement; left
return has 2 C18 lead fluted bell-form rainwater heads over
C20 lean-to.
2-storey garden front is ashlar; moulded plinth, plat band
over ground floor and cornice with plain parapet. Round-headed
entrance has fanlight with radial glazing bars over 6-panel
door (4 upper panels glazed, 2 lower panels flush) and C20
open gabled porch. Windows have sills, and 10/10 sashes, but
central first-floor window has 8/8 sash.
INTERIOR: not inspected, but one room noted as having dado
rail, fielded-panelled cupboards, fluted pilasters and
cornice.
