2 houses. C17 with C18 and C19 additions and extensive 1991
restoration. Extensively restored timber-frame with brick
infill on rubble plinth forming 2-unit plan, single-unit
addition with thinner scantlings and brick addition to right
end; renewed tile roof with brick end stack and rear stack.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 4-window range. 2 central entrances under
pentice with C20 plank doors, and entrance with glazed door to
right of centre. Renewed bay window to left has hipped roof; 2
windows with renewed casements and C20 window to right end.
First floor has 2 partly renewed windows to left of centre
with iron opening casements, and small window to right of
centre with leaded glazing to 2-light casement.
Left return is brick with stack off-centre to right; right
return has C20 entrance and windows. Square framing to left
half has raised eaves; timber-framing to right has thin
scantlings.
Rear similar, with brick central section by stack with
gathered-in shaft; entrance with late C20 door; one window has
2-light casement with iron opening casement, other windows
have renewed casements including 2 C20 gabled dormers.
INTERIOR: of Thorn Cottage: chamfered beams and fireplace with
bressumer and bread oven with iron door.
