Yew Tree Inn Public House,
Shrewsbury Road

Public house. C17 with early C18 alterations and later
additions. Painted timber frame with painted rendered infill
panels, roughcast render. Plain-tile roofs with integral brick
ridge chimneys. L-shaped plan formed from long and short
parallel ranges each with lean-to and flat-roofed extensions.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. North front of short range is a 2-storey,
2-window range of 3/3 sashes at first floor, 6/6 sashes at
ground level. Central projecting entrance porch. North wall of
long range to right with square framing with C20 casements and
single-storey flat-roofed extensions. East side with twin
gables with first-floor casements and projecting canted oriel
windows at ground level, all with diagonal leaded lights.
South side of long range mostly covered with later lean-to and
flat-roofed extensions. West gable of square panelled timber
frame with tension and arch braces; gable truss of straight
tie beam, twin collars with vertical struts between and twin
raking struts above.
