House. Mid C18 core, remodelled early C19 for Thomas Botfield
to designs reputed to be by John Nash. Render and brick.
Hipped slate roof. Rendered brick integral eaves chimneys.
EXTERIOR: south-west front is a 3-storey, 5-window range of
6/6 sashes with 3/6 at second floor. Central doorway at ground
floor set under portico of 8 paired unfluted Ionic columns
with balustrade.
North-west facade: 3-storey, 3-window range of 6/6 sashes with
3/6 at second floor and pair of ground-floor hipped
slate-roofed canted bay windows with 6/6 sash on each face and
with a sash between.
South-east facade: mirror of north-west facade but with
additional portico between bay windows with 4 unfluted columns
supporting continuous first-floor balustrade. Central pair of
partly glazed panelled doors. Pediment with coat of arms set
in tympanum projecting above eaves.
2-storey service wing to right with 6/6 sashes with cambered
lintels.
North-east side rear face: advanced left side in brick.
Central 16/12 sash flanked by 6/6 sashes (one replaced with
multi-pane casement) with 3/6 sash above, all with cambered
lintels. Ground floor covered by later 2- and single-storey
projecting wings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
