Farmhouse now house. Late C16, altered C19, extensively
restored c1980. Timber frame with painted rendered infill
panels. Plain tile roofs. 2 large projecting brick eaves
stacks, with 3 spurred brick upper shafts with restored
linking cap to north chimney, and with plain shaft to west
chimney, and central brick ridge chimney.
PLAN: original H-plan of central bay with pair of 2-bay cross
wings and 2 framed bays and then brick continuation bays added
to side of east cross wing.
EXTERIOR: 2-storey with attic and cellar. North front with
cross wing gable to right; close-studded framing with
first-floor jetty and middle rails with restored mullion
windows, straight braces to slightly advanced tie beam with
plain chamfered soffit, close-set vertical struts over, collar
with herringbone pattern of raking struts and central vertical
strut over collar. Projecting brick stack to left of central
bay and projecting lean-to porch to right covering square
framing. Left cross wing gable has square framing 4 panels
high with single tension brace at each floor, straight tie
beam with vertical struts, upper and lower collars, restored
mullion windows at each floor.
Main range to left is square framed 4 panels high with
restored mullion windows. Brick service wing extensions to
left end consisting of 2-storey former granary and cart shed.
West cross wing side: close-studded framing at both floors.
Rear side: covered by later brick gabled and lean-to
extensions, except for right-hand bays with square framing 4
panels high.
INTERIOR: deep chamfered bridging beams, single
trenched-purlin roof and diagonally-set ridge. Cross wing end
bay retaining internal partition framing at first floor
incorporating Tudor-arched door-head with vestiges of
contemporary painting on soffit.
