GV II

Gates, piers and walls. Early C19. Cast-iron gates, ashlar
piers and walls. Central carriage gateway with flanking
pedestrian gateways with swept approach walls each side with
that to the east connected to the house at the entrance to The
Lodge (qv). Pair of carriageway gates and 2 single pedestrian
gates with main standards and balusters with arrow-head caps,
plain top and bottom rails, and double middle rail with inset
latch cases. 2 free-standing piers flanked by 2 piers abutting
walls, each with pyramid cap set on cornice, plain entablature
and moulded chamfered plinth. Swept ashlar retaining walls
abut each side of outside piers: plain coping and chamfered
plinth.
Forms a group with the house at the entrance to The Lodge
(qv).
