House. 1706, with C19 and C20 alterations. Narrow coursed
millstone grit with tooled ashlar dressings, stone slate roof
and 3 truncated stone stacks.
PLAN: originally a 2 unit end baffle entry plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey. Quoins. Front has irregular fenestration.
Original house has to right a doorway with chamfered 4-centred
arched surround, with lintel bearing inscription:- 'M/ L R/
1706' above small chamfered 2-centred arched window with small
knop ornament. To left 4-light chamfered mullion window with
C20 single light window between and a single light window in
chamfered surround beyond to left. Beyond inserted C20 double
garage doors with timber lintel. Above a single light window
in chamfered surround flanked by single 3-light mullion window
in similar surrounds.
Single storey addition to right has single and 2-light mullion
windows. Beyond 2 storey projecting wing under higher roof,
with quoins has single window to each floor on return and
2-light flush mullion window to ground floor beyond.
Rear has irregular scattered fenestration with C19 flush
mullion windows to later porch. The housebody projects with
small fire window in outer face. Other windows C20, reusing
old materials.
INTERIOR: has 2 rough axial ceiling beams; original fireplace
removed and replaced in late C20 by another at the end of the
room. Massive side purlins and ridge piece to roof over
housebody only.
