These phots were taken for personal interest as this address appears in the 1841 census as that of my wife's grandfather E.E. Monk although we have yet to discover details. As you state it became a police station and the 'blue lamp' still hangs outside although the glass has been replaced with clear glass. I understand that the front featured as the opening shot for the old 'black and white' television series 'Dixon of Dock Green'
