1888/5/10013 Barn at Westbury Manor

Barn. C18. Weatherboarded timber-frame on brick plinth. Hipped roof clad in corrugated sheet steel. PLAN: 8-bay barn with aisles on both sides and two threshing bays with opposing cart entrances. EXTERIOR: North front has cart entrances to lef t and right with flat roof canopies supported on straight braces, and corrugated sheet steel doors; similar canopy at rear [S], and with lower ranges attached to left and right. INTERIOR: Jowled arcade-posts supporting arcade-plates and tie-beams, with straight braces; the tie-beam trusses have queen-struts rising to clasped purlins, but without collars. Wind-braces. Common-rafters and battens intact. Wall-framing largely intact, with tension-braces, long straight braces and tall studs, but no rails.
