1068/8/10016 Basing Home Farmhouse

Farmhouse. 1865, for William Nicholson of Basing Park. Flint with red brick dressings, partly tile-hung. Clay plain tile roof with gabled and hipped ends. Brick axial and lateral stacks with set-offs. PLAN: L-shaped on plan; cross-wing with stair tower and outshut in the angle. Gothic style. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical east front, gabled cross-wing to right, pointed arch doorway and 3-light casements, the first floor with large pointed arch tympanum; gabled stair tower in the angle with tall pointed arch window and outshut in the angle to left. Small half-hipped gables at sides and rear; gabled cross-wing at rear with canted bay window and pointed arch window with tile-hung tympanum. INTERIOR not inspected.
