GV II

Villa in planned group of villas. Mid-late C19. Stucco with
stucco detail; dry slate hipped roof with widely-spaced
modillions to projecting eaves; stuccoed end stacks with
moulded cornices. Double-depth plan with probably 2 rooms at
the front flanking a central entrance hall.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey over basement; symmetrical 3-window front.
Late C19 or C20 horned sashes without glazing bars; the
ground-floor windows are pilastered canted bays with moulded
cornices linked to string over central pilastered moulded
round-arched keyed doorway with plain overlight and pair of
panelled doors; tripartite doorway within which has door with
margin panes and glazed surround. Channelled and part
vermiculated rustication flanking the ground-floor windows and
string above. 1st floor has end pilasters and pilastered
window openings with moulded entablature, those to left and
right are paired windows.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: tall rubble side garden walls linked to
low front wall with square gate-piers with plinths and squat
pyramidal caps.
Part of a good group of mid C19 villas.
