GV II

Large villa, now a nursing home. Mid C19. Stucco with stucco
detail; asbestos slate hipped roof over moulded and bracketed
cornice; stuccoed end and axial stacks with moulded cornices
and old clay pots. Fairly deep plan with probably 2 rooms at
the front flanking an entrance hall leading to stair hall.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys to front with tall 1st floor, otherwise 3
storeys; symmetrical 3-bay front with rusticated quoins,
central entrance bay broken forward. Original hornless sashes
with glazing bars, round-arched heads to 1st floor, all within
pilastered openings with consoles and moulded hoods;
right-hand windows blind. Pedimented porch with rusticated
sides with alternate vermiculated rustication. Symmetrical
3-bay garden and road front to return right of entrance front
with narrower recessed central bay; canted bays to
ground-floor left and right, tripartite windows above;
pilastered openings with moulded hoods on consoles; 1st floor
with sill brackets and segmental arches, all original hornless
sashes with horizontal glazing bars. Other elevations with
many original features.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
One of a good group of villas in Mannamead which was developed
after 1851.
