Three houses, now shop and public house. 1840s with later alterations. Brick with stucco facades and slate roof, brick end and party-wall stacks with cornices and iron balconies.
EXTERIOR: two storeys, six first-floor windows. Alternate recessed, narrower entrance bays. Stucco embellishments include horizontal rustication to ground floor, wide first-floor band with cornice, frieze and cornice above first floor. First floor has tripartite multi-pane windows and, to entrance bays have 6/6 sashes; ground floor has tripartite windows: 6/6 between 2/2 sashes where original; all in plain reveals and with sills, those to ground floor on feet. Five entrances: four-panel double doors, six-panel and part-glazed doors where original with overlights, that to right has glazing-bars. Right return has 2+2 first-floor windows, with 6/6 sashes where original.
INTERIOR: ground floor of Phoenix Inn remodelled, otherwise not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: two honeycomb balconies at right, brackets remain at left.
A similar design to Nos 54 and 56, 60-70 (even), and 72-80 (even), Andover Road (qqv).
