Pair of houses and attached railings to No.2. c1820-34, not shown on the Post Office Map of 1820, but shown on Merrett's Map of 1834. Stucco over brick with slate roof, brick and stucco party-wall stack; iron balcony and area railings to right (No.2). Double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, 6 first-floor windows (3 per house). Stucco detailing includes ground floor rustication drawn into voussoirs over openings; first- and second-floor bands; frieze and cornice with blocking course. 6/6 sashes where original, those to first floor are taller and in tooled architraves; all windows in plain reveals. Entrances to left of each house: 5-panel doors between side-lights with cambered-arched fanlights, that to right has batwing-and-circle motif to glazing bars. Rear retains 6/6, 8/8, and 6/6 with margin-lights sashes. INTERIOR: retain original joinery including shutters, otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Carron Company double-heart-and-anthemion motif balcony to first floor at right. Area railings to No.2 have X-motif and with stick balusters to basement steps. Forms an irregular terrace with Nos 3 (qv), and 4 (qv), Berkeley Street.
