Pair of semi-detached villas, now school. c1840-60. Stucco
over brick with hipped slate roof, tall end stucco stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 1:6:1 first-floor windows,
the centre breaks forwards slightly; extension to right.
Stucco detailing includes quoins to ground floor of
breakforward, sills on feet and cornices on embellished
console brackets to ground floor windows, continuous tooled
first-floor sill band with feet to first-floor windows,
architraves interrupt eaves band, brackets to wide eaves. End
entrances, steps to round-arched recesses with channelled
piers and imposts, tooling to head and keystone; within are
4-panel door at right, double, glazed doors at left, with
overlights. 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes throughout, the outer
ground-floor windows are tripartite, all in plain reveals and
tooled architraves, those to ground floor have acanthus
embellishments to sills.
INTERIOR: retains original joinery including panelled
shutters; 2 dogleg staircases with lion's paw foot to run-out
balustrade, turned balusters. Some marble fireplaces. Moulded
cornices and ceiling roses. 4-panel doors.
Occupies a prominent corner site.
