House, now divided and in commercial use. Probably C16 with C19 and C20 alterations and restoration. Timber-framed, the exterior partly painted over plaster in early C20 restoration. Close studding with middle rails, and arch-bracing to gables which have strapwork relief decoration to bressumers. Slate roof. PLAN: H-plan, suggesting hall and cross wing form. EXTERIOR: right-hand gable now forms one unit, with late C19 shop front to ground floor, with dentil moulding to fascia and central doorway recessed between 3-light windows. Tripartite first-floor window in moulded architrave, and traces of earlier timber mullioned window in apex of gable. Left-hand wing and central range now form a single unit, with inserted recessed shop front to ground floor, tripartite windows in gable and centre to first floor. Some of the timbering has been replastered and painted in early C20, and the bargeboards with finials also date from this period. The original timbering has been exposed in the right-hand gable to reveal 4 bays with central queen strut truss, the tie beam supported on curved braces, plain tie beams demarcating the other bays. King post roof structure of main hall range visible in side wall. INTERIOR: not inspected.
