Pair of semi-detached villas. c1819-24 with later additions and
alterations. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof and
stuccoed party-wall stacks with pots. 3 storeys, 4 first-floor
windows and service ranges to rear. Symmetrical, classical design
with main facade to garden (west) front. Stucco detailing
includes full height Doric pilasters to ends, then paired
pilasters between windows. Wide eaves. First floor has 8/8 sashes
with blind boxes; second floor has 4/4 sashes; ground floor has
tall 6/6 sashes where original; all in plain reveals and with
sills. Timber verandah to garden facade, ground floor. Entrances
to sides and rear: 3-panel part-glazed door with fanlight with
radial glazing bars and part-renewed timber doorcase.
INTERIOR: No.46 has dogleg staircase with wreathed handrail;
marble fireplace; panelled shutters to windows.
HISTORIC NOTE: the Lark Hill development, c1819-24, was
originally intended to be more extensive with terraces and a
crescent. Nos 38 to 50 (even) and Woodside, Lark Hill Road form a
good group of villas. No.44 was formerly listed as No.4 and No.46
was formerly listed as No.5 Larkhill Road. (Worcestershire
