Detached villa. c1828. By John Pinch and Son.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double pitched slate mansard roof with two dormers and moulded stacks to coped gable ends.
PLAN: double depth plan, with wider rear range which projects to right of front range.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys, attic and lower ground floor, symmetrical three window front. Moulded coping to tall parapet and cornice that encircle building, returned first floor sill band. Two light casement window to attic, eight/eight pane sash windows to first floor and six/six pane sashes in semicircular arched recesses to ground floor. Tuscan doorcase and cobweb fanlight to door with four raised and fielded panels. Blind windows to left return. Rear garden front has sunblind boxes to plate glass sash window, full height canted bay to south-east end, single storey canted bay to inside south-west end and two storey cast iron verandah to centre with swept canopy and French window to first floor.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: A highly characteristic design by Pinch¿s office, which signed the drawing accompanying the building lease of 1828. It was one of Pinch¿s last works, being designed shortly before his death. The attic storey was a later addition, and the roof was originally intended to be hipped.
