Garden walls and gatepiers. Mid C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar.
PLAN: Set forward from and opposite frontage of houses run of stone open balustrading with moulded coping, set between six pairs of plain square piers to flat pyramidal cappings on bed mould. No gates. At outer end, adjacent to railway embankment, walls returns at same height as balustrade, and crowned with low railing with flat spearheads. Between house fronts and walls stone flagged pavement running full length. Unusually complete survival of this ancillary item to cottages.
