Public house. Mid C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar front, coursed and squared returns, slate roof.
PLAN: Symmetrical wide span gabled block, with roof swept-down to shallow projection at rear, and long narrow single storey gabled wing, to left.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys and basement, sash windows, at first floor paired plain with flush stone mullions and raised central panel inscribed `THE GOLDEN FLEECE, LAMB ALES AND STOUT¿, ground floor has central triple light to shallow square bay with pediment, flanked by a single sash, and part-glazed panelled doors with transom light, on three stone steps, in moulded surround with peaked head. Double plinth, mid-string to ovolo bed-mould, moulded cornice, shallow blocking course and parapet. Small square stack off-centre, right, forward of ridge. Return gable plain, and rear has various four-pane sashes, and small square eaves stack.
INTERIOR: Not inspected. Pub closed down at time of inspection (2003).
HISTORY: This pub constitutes the end property in a modest domestic row (qv Nos 12-16), where much has been demolished.
